Renewable Energy and Clean Technology is an emerging target sector for the Town of Halton Hills, as the Town has committed to achieving a net-zero target by 2030 through a broad range of corporate and community-wide actions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions through mitigation and adaption measures.
Halton Hills’ Town Council has committed to taking action to achieve a net-zero target by 2030 by implementing actions to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through mitigation and adaption measures.
The Town has already made significant strides towards its goals, including installation of solar panels on institutional buildings, introduction of low-carbon geothermal into its municipal buildings, and the adoption of a transit service strategy that will commit the Town of Halton Hills to investigate the purchase of zero-emission vehicles for future transit expansions. All municipal decision-making is also subject to a no/low-carbon filter test.
The broad range of corporate and community-wide actions being implemented by the Town over the next 10-15 years will allow companies to target business opportunities related to the following:
This opportunity could potentially cover over 20,000 private dwellings, in addition to all commercial buildings, in order to meet carbon reduction targets, and will require commercial solutions that deliver high performance, desirable and affordable retrofit packages.
Halton Hills has committed to using GSHP installations for all buildings. The level of demand will necessitate a knowledge, expertise and innovative processes to accelerate geothermal installations that are not currently available in the local geothermal industry.
Will drive the acquisition of innovative technologies, products and services to contribute to the Net-Zero 2030 goal. The focus will primarily be on geothermal and solar, electrifying the Town’s fleet of vehicles, and investing in a public transit network comprised entirely electric vehicles.
There is an opportunity to incorporate DES into future developments in Halton Hills, with the future goal of all heating and/or cooling in the community’s infrastructure being transported through DES.
Halton Hills will continue to encourage clean energy, energy efficiency and low-carbon mobility initiatives across the community in order to meet its net-zero target for 2030. The Town’s commitment to taking climate change action has created a window of opportunity for national and international companies who have a demonstrated capacity to deliver innovative products and services in the green energy sector.
